Lykke Li has shared details of a new audiovisual album, ‘EYEYE’.
Following up on yesterday’s track ‘No Hotel’, she recorded the album in her LA bedroom. She explains: “I wanted the record to have the intimacy of listening to a voice memo on a macro dose of LSD.”
‘EYEYE’ will come alongside a visual component directed by Theo Lindquist and shot on 16mm film. Split into one-minute long videos, it’s intended to be viewed as ‘fragments of a larger story”.
“We wanted to capture the beauty and grandeur of a three-hour European arthouse movie, while making something native to modern media,” Lykke Li says. “The intention is to deliver the full impact of a movie in sixty seconds on a phone screen, which is where most of our emotional experiences happen now anyway.”
‘EYEYE’ is set to arrive on 20th May.
