Matty Healy has given an update on that upcoming release from The 1975‘s pre-fame guise Drive Like I Do – and it seems like we may be getting something very soon.

Posting a video to his Instagram stories, Matty said: “There’s a lot of people asking me about Drive Like I Do. Drive Like I Do was the band that we were before The 1975, so it’s kind of as humble as it was.

“There’s the old music, there’s a little bit of new music. I’m not gonna make a fanfare about it. It’s not coming out today, but it’s coming out pretty soon. That’ll be a nice little thing. There’s loads of things going on, coming out, so I’m excited.”

The suggestion it may come quite soon is interesting. Matty has suggested a February release previously – and with the fifth anniversary of their landmark album ‘i like it when you sleep’ coming a week on Friday (26th February), perhaps the stars will align then? They are a band who like a bit of symbolism, after all.

This all follows news from the weekend that they were finishing up the release, and it wouldn’t be a full album.
