Maxïmo Park currently lead the race for this week’s Number 1 album.
The band are ahead of both Alice Cooper and Architects in the running for the top spot, releasing their new album ‘Nature Always Wins’ last Friday (26th February).
They find themselves just under 1,500 sales ahead of second placed Cooper, in a midweek chart where the entire top seven are new entries. It could make the record their first Top 10 album in seven years.
Elsewhere Digga D’s ‘Made In The Pyrex’ is at four, with Lucy Spraggan’s ‘Choices’ completing the top five. The White Stripes’ ‘Greatest Hits’ then sits at six, with Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s live album ‘Way Down In The Rust Bucket’ at seven.
New music first, kids.
In order to keep up their charge, Maxïmo Park have announced two new ‘out-store’ shows this September, in Kingston and Leeds. They’ll perform songs from ‘Nature Always Wins’, plus their classic album ‘Our Earthly Pleasures’ in full.
The dates read:

08 Leeds Beckett Uni, Leeds – Crash Records
