Metronomy have launched a brand new mobile-app-slash-game-wotsit.
It’s based upon an ‘Eight Wonders of Metronomy’s Small World’ tea towel, available via Joe Mount’s hometown record store DRIFT in Totnes, Devon.
The tea towel features eight places that hold significance for Joe and the band, including a skate part in Nottingham, a Laundromat in Tokyo and a karaoke bar in Hamburg.
Joe explained on its release; “Some of the wonders may seem obvious (The Paris Montmatrobus) and others less obvious (the coin laundromat in Shibuya perhaps), but each holds a special place in my heart and in the hearts of the band. I’ll expand some more on the choices over the next few weeks, but in the meantime just marvel at this absolutely must-have item.”
They’ve now turned that into a special digital doo-dah that reveals the backstory on each wonder from Joe himself. You can find it here.
Metronomy’s new album ‘Small World’ is out this week, and is currently in a five-way battle for the Number 1 slot in this week’s Official Album Chart. You can read our chat with Joe from the new issue of Dork here, and grab a copy of the record here.
