MIA is curating Meltdown Festival 2017

  • Dork News Desk
  • February 7, 2017
Meltdown Festival have announced this year’s curator – with the honour falling to none other than MIA.

Following in the footsteps of the likes of David Bowie, Morrissey, Nick Cave and last year’s curator Guy Garvey – MIA is set to bring a programme of unique and spell-binding shows to the Southbank Centre in London between June 9th – June 18th.

Speaking about the festival, MIA said that “for me this Meltdown will be about putting on a musical week that shows different types of music which have inspired each other to exist. Genres that support other genres, redefining the concept of a melting pot. Respect the history, don’t live in it.”

“I plan to bring together music’s best forward thinkers who have contributed to all our lives. When music acts as inspiration, it’s boundary-less.”

The curating role comes fresh from the release of MIA’s latest album ‘AIM’, released last September and, according to MIA, standing as her last album.

More information on the programme of shows and ticket details are set to emerge in the coming weeks so, y’know, keep ya eyes peeled.
