Misty Coast premiere new single, ‘Heavy Head on a Body’

  • Dork News Desk
  • January 26, 2017
The Megaphonic Thrift members Linn Frøkedal and Richard Myklebust release a new single under their Misty Coast moniker tomorrow, Friday 27th January – check out the beautifully atmospheric ‘Heavy Head on a Body’ below, first on Dork.

The band say of the track: ”You know when you are dreaming something really horrible, and in your dream you are praying for it not to be real? You tend to wake up feeling very relieved. ‘Heavy Head on a Body’ describes moments like these, but instead of waking up relieved, you realize you’ve been awake the whole time. Reality bites, and instead of challenging these rough days, you turn passive and keep hiding away while you constantly watch the clock or search for a way to press fast forward.

“‘Heavy Head on a Body’ is the very first song we recorded as Misty Coast. We had no click track, so everything is based around Linn’s first take lazy, sauntering guitar which runs up and down in tempo throughout the whole song. When we recorded the drums, Richard was lying on the floor hitting the bass drum with some sort of wooden spoon, and Linn was clapping her hands to make the sound of a lacking snare. The first version had this warm campfire/hippie feel to it, and didn’t really fit the rest of the album. Producer Matias Tellez added some mellow synths, and made it sound colder and more mysterious.”

‘Heavy Head on a Body’ is released via Club AC30 in the UK and Europe, via Brilliance in their home country, Norway and via Old Flame in North America. It features on the pair’s debut album, expected to land in September of this year.
