The producer's latest 'emo-breaks' cut arrives via his Pond Recordings label.
Mura Masa is back with a new single, 'Needja', a collaboration with Scottish-Indonesian rapper Ledbyher.
Released via his own Pond Recordings label, the track builds around chopped-up samples of Ledbyher's vocals and continues the club-focused direction Mura Masa has been exploring on recent releases 'Curve 1' and 'Curve+1'. Describing the sound as "emo-breaks", it's another step into a heavier, break-driven style while drawing on classic club influences.
"Working together was like buttering bread really, a good thing made easy," Ledbyher says. "We spend most of our time listening to and discussing rock artists or Sneaker Pimps and The Sundays. That comes after we go to the cafe of course. Our brains are like wildfire when we're together and making stuff, just two people from the sticks having fun. Also his cat, Chaplin, helps too and needs an honourable mention."
The release follows a busy period for Mura Masa, who has continued expanding his Curve Club series of events while developing The Pond, his new Peckham-based label, creative hub and arts space for emerging artists. He'll also take Curve Club back on the road this summer, with North American dates beginning in Dallas on 3rd July before heading to Japan in September.
