Ahead of a performance at London’s Omeara tomorrow night, November 4th, Mychelle has shared a new single, ‘Tightrope’, and stars in the accompanying music video.
The single follows her recent second EP, ‘Someone Who Knows’, which dropped in May. Mychelle has since completed a number of support slots alongside Michael Kiwanuka, Jorja Smith, and George Ezra, as well as performing at a series of summer festivals.
Speaking on the new Ed Thomas (Jorja Smith, SG Lewis) -produced song Mychelle has said: “‘Tightrope’ was written about when you’ve got that person who is doing the most for your attention and time, but it’s not what is needed. Musically, I wanted the track to feel modern but still have the vibe and sound of traditional soul”.
It arrives with a visual directed by Thea Gajic (Stormzy, Jords, A2) and featuring the singer as the main protagonist – on the collaboration, she shared: “myself and the director wanted a film-like video that could work by itself showing everyday Black life”.

Mychelle will perform at London’s Omeara tomorrow night, Friday November 4th, as part of a show curated by BBC Radio 1’s Sian Eleri. Rachel Chinouriri and Terra Kin are also set to play – tickets are available here.
