BBC Radio 1 has announced Nia Archives as the third place finisher for their Sound of 2023 list.

The British singer-songwriter has been nominated for the BRITs Rising Star Award in 2022 and released her latest single, ‘So Tell Me…’, late last year. She was preceded on the list by Cat Burns and Gabriels, who took fourth and fifth place, respectively. Other artists included on the longlist include FLO, Fred again.., Biig Piig, Rachel Chinouriri, Dylan, Asake, and Piri & Tommy. The final two placements will be revealed over the coming days.

The Sound of 2023 list is voted for by a selection of tastemakers, artists and music industry professionals to highlight the new acts most likely to make a big splash in the year ahead. Last year’s edition was topped by PinkPantheress and included Wet Leg, Central Cee and Tems. While it remains to be seen who will take the top spot of the Sound of 2023 list, it’s clear that Nia Archives is a name to watch in the coming year.
