One of Gorillaz’ new tracks almost featured Damon Albarn, Noel Gallagher and Graham Coxon

So close...
Earlier tonight (23rd March), Gorillaz dropped four new tracks.

As part of the fun, Damon Albarn has been doing the rounds talking about them – and in one chat, he’s revealed some interesting details about ‘We’ve Got The Power’.

The song features vocals from Savages Jehnny Beth, which normally would be exciting enough, but that’s not all it’s packing. There’s also Noel Gallagher on guitar. Yep. You read that right. Damon and Noel together on the same song. And it was almost even more amazing.

“At one point this song had Graham, Noel and me on it and it was sort of heading slightly in the wrong direction,” Albarn told Radio X.

“It was becoming almost retro in its sort of spirit and way too rocky for this record so I kind of stripped it right back down again. We play it slightly different live than how it is on the record. It’s sort of the song that comes on during the final titles of a film. The climax. I thought Jehnny would take a bit of the testosterone off.”

So there we go. Damon Albarn – the first man to remove Graham Coxon from a track for providing too much testosterone.
