Owen Pallett has released a new album.
Out today, Friday 22nd May, via Domino / Secret City Records (Canada), he’s been teasing ‘Island’ for a few years – and now it’s finally here, alongside a video for ‘A Bloody Morning’.
His new clip was conceived and directed during the pandemic with director Vincent René-Lortie and choreographer Brittney Canda, and features socially-distancing dancers.
“Honestly, at first I wasn’t sold on the concept,” says Owen. “I worried that the video would end up pornographing the quarantine, and I declined.”
However, he was soon won around: “I was floored,” Owen says of when he saw the final result. “I couldn’t believe how cathartic it was to see the video, how perfectly it fit the song, and how meaningful and necessary it was for me to see it when I did.”
