As teased earlier this week, Patrick Wolf has just dropped ‘Enter The Day’ – his first release in over ten years – ahead of a new EP, ‘The Night Safari’.
The song arrived via his own label, ARPORT, on the 20th anniversary of the London singer-songwriter’s self-titled debut EP – today, November 11th 2022. The full project is expected to arrive in early 2023, although no exact date has been confirmed.
Wolf confirmed his return to music in a recent surprise announcement via social media, where he revealed that he concluded his work on the new project last month.
“A charcoal drawing of a sparrow hawk was the last work my mother was making before she died and when I took my first walk to explore the land around my new home back when I moved to live by the sea,” he recalls.
”A sparrow hawk was soaring over me in silence at the mouth of the bay, that afternoon I went home to my upright piano and began writing this song, which ended up becoming an epilogue to the narrative of ‘The Night Safari’ EP. As producer, I crafted this song as a bridge out of the plaintive production of ‘Sundark & Riverlight’ to where the new EP will safari the listener to.”
