Peaches has shared a video for 'You're Alright', taken from her album 'No Lube So Rude', out now via Kill Rock Stars. Directed by Oscar-shortlisted filmmaker Agniia Galdanova and co-starring performance artist Jenna Marvin, it premiered via Nowness.
In it, Peaches is chased through the streets of Paris by latex-clad figures of her own making, before accepting them as parts of herself. "The music video explores the multiplicity of identity, self-acceptance, defiance, and emotional survival in a chaotic, judgmental world," says Galdanova. "Its central idea is to show that in any environment, in any society, a person has the right to express themselves as they truly feel - even when that expression goes beyond what is familiar or comfortable for others. It is about embracing messy, contradictory identity - confidence mixed with vulnerability."
'No Lube So Rude' has been shortlisted for this year's Polaris Prize, Peaches' first nomination since 'The Teaches of Peaches' received the Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize, and Slash Need will perform an interpretation of the album at the ceremony on 22nd September. April also brought her debut score, for Dan Levy's Netflix project 'Big Mistakes', co-created with composer Nora Kroll-Rosenbaum.
Peaches heads out on a North American tour this week, with Latin American dates to follow. $1 from every ticket sold on the North American headline shows goes to Noise For Now, which supports grassroots reproductive rights organisations across the US.
