Ushering in the new year with the sort of vibes and atmosphere it truly deserves, Dutch newcomers Personal Trainer have unveiled stunning new track ‘Muscle Memory’.
Drenched in a gritty sense of realism and packed with shuffling beats building to an explosive release, it’s a statement of intent from a band about to make some mesmerising waves.
Speaking about the track, songwriter Willem Smit said: “I think Muscle Memory is our most emo song to date, I liked the idea of a softer eerie verse with spoken group vocals, then a completely bombastic chorus. To me it’s about cycles and structures on a big planet, that become a blurry backdrop for more mundane activities like doing groceries or brushing your teeth. The gap between me and the actual world I live in gives me feelings of guilt and shame. I have eaten at least two hundred pizzas in my life, but I have no idea where they grow”.
To be fair, we have no idea where pizzas grow either so… can someone work that out and let us all know? Cheers.
Personal Trainer will release their debut EP ‘Gazebo’ on February 5th through ‘friends of the magazine’ Sports Team’s Holm Front Records. Not too shabby indeed.
