Piglet (AKA Charlie Loane) has announced his upcoming EP, ‘seven songs’, with the new single, ‘to you tonight’.
The new single follows the recent single ‘it isn’t fair’, which explored the injustices of British healthcare provision for trans people. This trans experience will be explored further on the upcoming project – which is due to arrive in full on November 10th – alongside piglet’s perspectives on mental health, substance abuse, and affirmations of self-identity.
On ‘to you tonight’, the Irish-born London-based songwriter shares: “My intention was to write a song that reflected and celebrated the love and joy that have been added to my life by my partner and our relationship while doing my best to avoid what I see as the pitfalls that love songs can often fall into.”
“Often love is expressed in songs via feelings of ownership”, he continues: “a persistence towards foreverness, gender stereotypes and unrealistic expectations of unhealthy dedication – which I think we could do without! I’m not saying I succeeded – that’s up to what you think when you hear it, I reckon – but that was the idea.”
Loane summarises the release with: “TLDR; it’s a fun song about being fuckin gay!”
