‘Resistance is Futile’ – Manic Street Preachers announce new album

  • Dork News Desk
  • November 17, 2017
Manic Street Preachers have announced details of their 13th studio album. The aptly titled ‘Resistance is Futile’ will be released on April 6th and is followed by UK arena tour.

Since releasing ‘Futurology’ in 2014 the band have been on a victory lap celebrating their pivotal 90’s albums ‘The Holy Bible’ and ‘Everything Must Go’ with some huge outdoor shows.

‘Resistance is Futile’ was recorded at the band’s new Door to the River studio in Newport, Wales, following the closer of Faster Studios in Cardiff last year.

“The main themes of ‘Resistance Is Futile’ are memory and loss – forgotten history – confused reality and art as a hiding place and inspiration,” the band said.

“Musically the album is obsessively melodic and in many ways references the naive energy of ‘Generation Terrorists’ and the orchestral sweep of ‘Everything Must Go’. After delay and difficulties, the record has come together really quickly over the last few months, there has been a surge of creativity and old school hard work.”

After releasing the album the Manics will head out on a Spring UK tour with support from The Coral, wrapping with a homecoming of sorts at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on 5th May. Details below. Pre-orders for the album are open on a number of formats.

23 – NEWCASTLE Metro Radio Arena

25 – GLASGOW The SSE Hydro

28 – MANCHESTER Arena

MAY
