Rick Rubin has revealed that The Strokes have recently been working on their seventh album in Costa Rica.

Rubin appeared on the controversial podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ last night, October 12th, and reminisced on the creation of some currently unreleased material.

“A few months ago, I was in Costa Rica recording a new album with The Strokes and we rented this house up on the top of a mountain and set up the band outside,” Rubin recalled. “So they’re playing and it’s like they’re doing a concert for the ocean on the top of a mountain. It was incredible. We did that every day and they didn’t want to leave, it was the best experience.

The new recordings follow the legendary New York outfit’s sixth LP, ‘The New Abnormal’, which was also produced by Rick Rubin and arrived in April 2020. No news of upcoming releases has been officially confirmed by the band.
