Robbie Williams has reiterated his desire to perform in the ‘legends slot’ at the iconic Glastonbury Festival this year. In a recent podcast interview, the singer expressed his enthusiasm and vowed to “slaughter it” if asked.
“It’s one of those times and places, and a reimagination of what Robbie Williams is,” he explained on fan podcast Robbie Williams Rewind. “When you do Glastonbury, perception changes more than any other festival. Diana Ross could play any festival and not get any traction, but she plays Glastonbury and everybody is talking about it, like Barry Gibb.”
Despite not yet being asked to take part in the festival, Williams is confident in his ability to wow the crowd if he is given the chance. He insisted, “A lot of people there have an oblique perception of what I am. But if they saw me do it, I would take their heads off.”
Though Williams’ interest has been made clear, Roxy Music are currently rumoured to be taking the legends slot. The only artist confirmed for Glastonbury 2023 is Elton John, who will be headlining the Pyramid Stage on Sunday, June 25th.
