SHADED have launched a new EP series, ‘A Year Of You’.
The West London alt-pop trio – Matt East, Callum Irons and Dan Bradberry – have kicked off the ambitious new project with five-track effort ‘_001’, with three more EPs to follow over the next twelve months.
Introducing their plans, Matt explains: “I have this reoccurring nightmare that I’m going to wake up one day to find that everything and everyone I know and love has left. Since picking up an instrument and using my voice, I have had that escape and that way of muting the voice in my head that tells me I don’t deserve to be here.
“1 year ago, I finally saw the back of a relationship that put more strain on my mental health than I had ever experienced. People suffer from depression and anxiety for a huge variety of reasons. Some roots can be explained, some can’t. But one that is still so overlooked and one that I have been constantly told to ‘man up’ over is relationships. The one thing which, at the time, was the most personal thing in the world to me. the one thing I had to wake up and deal with all day, every single day.
“Suffering internally feels like a barbell on your shoulders, but being a part of my favourite band in the world has given me the opportunity to relieve that weight… even if at times, only a little bit. We write and make music that is as honest as we physically can be, and it’s for that reason that I’m starting to see more light than dark. it has been the finest form of therapy to me and I am so grateful to be a part of this family with my brothers, Cal and Dan. We are so incredibly proud to be able to tell you that ‘_001’ is the first instalment of a project that will see us release more than 20 songs over the next 12 months. That project is titled ‘A Year Of You’.
“We all deserve to be happy, me, us, you. You are beautiful, you are loved and things do get better, no matter how dark, how difficult and how exhausting. This life is beautiful, so let’s share it.”
Give ‘_001’ a listen below, and keep an eye out for more to come.
