Shame and Let’s Eat Grandma are currently favourites to win the Mercury Prize

The nominees aren't even out yet, but here you go.

The nominees for this year’s Mercury Prize aren’t even out yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bet on this year’s winner.

Leading the way – according to betting companies, at least – are Dork cover stars Shame with their debut album ‘Songs of Praise’, and Let’s Eat Grandma with ‘I’m All Ears’.

Other acts in with a shot, include Arctic Monkeys, Superorganism, Sophie, Wolf Alice, Hookworms, Gorillaz, Florence + the Machine, and Chvrches. What a list, eh?

Mind you, Bastille and The 1975 are also in there, and their upcoming albums won’t qualify for this year’s awards, so you know, take this with a pinch of salt.

The Shortlist of twelve ‘Albums of the Year’ will be revealed on Thursday, 26th July, with the Awards Show held at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith on Thursday, 20th September.
