Sigrid is dropping a new track, ‘Burning Bridges’, next week

  • Stephen Ackroyd
  • August 18, 2021

Sigrid is set to drop a new single next week.

Titled ‘Burning Bridges’, it’s set to arrive on Wednesday 25th August – though there’s already a 30-second snippet of it available on TikTok.

In a statement alongside the news, Sigrid explains the track “was written last summer in Copenhagen together with music wizards Caroline Ailin and Sylvester Siversten.”

“We spent our days swimming and eating in our little studio bubble, and I guess that peaceful state of mind made it easier to dig into some really tough feelings,” she continues. “‘Burning Bridges’ is about that moment when you know you have to let go, and when you are listening to the song, I’m cool with it being anything you need it to be. I’ve said it before, but I really do love to write little reminder songs to myself and others. It can be hard to let go of things, so if I feel like it’s too much, I’ll put on this song and be like “Aaah, that’s why you’re feeling this way and here’s how you can deal with it if you need it”.

“I’ve also found out it’s a great song for running in the woods, or walking to a meeting you’re a bit nervous for, or power walking down the street.”

“All self-help stuff aside – it’s just a really sick song and I’m so proud of it. It’s literally made for massive festival stages, so of course we had to ask an incredibly talented Swedish string orchestra to play on it. I guess you can hear a mix between rock and Scandi-pop in the middle of all the big live drums, clubby synths and intense bass – and surprise surprise, we were a full Scandi crew writing this: Caroline and I being Norwegian, and Sylvester being Danish.”

It follows up on Sigrid’s recent single ‘Mirrors’, and comes ahead of an expected second album. You can check out the teaser, and her statement in full, below.
