Soft Lad – musician, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sophie Galpin – has dropped a new video for ‘The Human Condition’.
The track follows on from debut EP ‘Maximum Feels’, with more new music on the way.
Of the new song, she says: “This song came as a result of the worst hangover of my life! It was a proper two-dayer. I got so drunk on New Year’s Eve during lockdown that I managed to ruin my own life from within the four walls of my house and was just generally a bit of a shitty friend. It wasn’t even that bad, but the song is about the ensuing disproportionate shame hole I was stuck in for about a week afterwards – my fantastic friend forgave me and everything was very rapidly fine, but I just felt like such a dickhead for being hurtful in the first place.
“We always seem to treat the people closest to us badly, and our loved ones really get to see all sides of us – the good, the bad and the ugly. But true, deep, authentic friendships allow space for fuck ups, apologies, repair and growing together. But most importantly, you are worthy of the kindness your loved ones afford you from yourself too. No-one is perfect, we are all just trying our best.”
