Sophie May has announced her second EP, ‘Worst Thoughts In The World’.
Set for release on 16th August, it follows on from her biggest headline show to date at a sold-out London’s Omeara on in May. She’s also shared the record’s title-track, which was co-written with Matt Maltese.
Sophie says: “‘Worst Thoughts In The World’ was created at a time in my life where I felt all-consumed by my obsessive thinking. I found poking fun at some of my weirder thoughts helped me make light of what was troubling me. Bringing those irrational images to the forefront showed me how meaningless and human they were. Giving me back some power and peace of mind.”
“My second EP focuses on personal experiences while also looking inward and trying to make light of my state of mind,” she adds. “Struggling with intrusive thoughts and feeling like a bad person can create clouded judgement, making it hard to trust yourself and what you know to be true. I found myself reflecting on past relationships and trying to figure out where it all started but at the same time I attempted to keep the humour alive because if you don’t laugh you’ll cry. Or in my case, if I don’t laugh, I’ll convince myself I’ve poisoned my family.”
