SPINN have a laugh in Tokyo for their new ‘Bliss’ video

Catch the band at Dork's Xmas Party next month.

SPINN have shared a new video for their latest indie-bop, ‘Bliss’.

The clip precedes their upcoming set at Dork’s Xmas bash, which takes place at the Old Blue Last in London on 15th December, with fellow faves Bad Sounds and Violet.

They’ve also further shows at Wolverhampton’s The Hummingbird (14th December), London’s Camden Assembly (21st February) and Liverpool’s Arts Club Theatre (22nd February) coming up.

Frontman Johnny says of the clip: “This video was filmed by our friends Taku and Rebecca, from Tokyo. It’s a bit of a mad story really. Basically, we had been invited to watch a gig in some crazy shop that sold everything and anything, in a suburb of Tokyo, and before the gig we were looking for somewhere to eat. The problem was though, Louis is vegan and not many people in the area spoke English, so we couldn’t find anywhere that did vegan food. We’d almost given up when this guy was like “Hey, I’m a chef, we don’t have any vegan food on the menu but I’ll cook you something up”. That chef was Taku, we got talking and it turned out he was a photographer and he offered to do some pictures for us at our gig the next night, so we said yeah and he came along with his girlfriend Rebecca and took some photos.

“We met them up the next day and took us on a trip all around Tokyo and it was brilliant, they showed us around took us to a lovely meal, took loads of photos, and filmed stuff on this big old VHS in return for nothing and it’s one of the nicest things anybody has ever done for us. They also took us on a night out, which I’m glad they didn’t film because my mum will watch this video and it’s bad enough there’s footage of me with a cigarette in it. I don’t want to be in my own personal episode of Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents.

“So yeah that’s how the music video came about. A huge thanks to Taku and Rebecca for being so generous and kind towards us, Taku is coming to stay in Liverpool with us next February too, so if we play any gigs he’ll be coming along no doubt. So if you see him, go and say Hi.”
