“New music before the month’s out” – It looks like Sports Team are back in action for album two

It looks like Sports Team are ready to start dropping new music.

Earlier this week, the Dork faves and previous Readers’ Poll Band of the Year wiped their Instagram account, replacing their profile pictures on social media with a lovely shade of green. We didn’t write a news story about it, because they’re not The 1975, and honestly, we’re never sure if they’re just dicking about with us.

Now, they’ve started talking. Because it’s Sports Team, and that’s what they’re good at. As well as music. Obviously.

A post from the band’s Twitter account this morning shows a screengrab of an email, titled ‘Sports Team – album masters from Randy’.

Alongside it, they promise: “Hits only. New music before the month’s out.”

Over on Instagram, they’ve confirmed their second album is finished too.

Sports Team were talking about new music during our last cover feature with the band, where frontman Alex Rice claimed: “It’s not exactly hard to make music”.

Now, just nine months later, it looks like they’ve got round to it. As Rice said himself last summer: “What’s the worst that can happen, a bad album?”

Update: Ever feel like a band are specifically out to trigger you, Dear Reader?
