St. Vincent has dropped her brand new single, ‘Pay Your Way In Pain’.
Another evolution for an artist adept at reinvention, it’s the first taster of her forthcoming album ‘Daddy’s Home’ – set for release on 14th May via Loma Vista.
Teased extensively over the last few weeks, the album follows up on 2017’s Dork Album of the Year ‘MASSEDUCTION’. Written as her father was released from prison, a press release explains that the full-length is inspired by “the records she has probably listened to more than any other music in her entire life. Music made in sepia-toned downtown New York from 1971-1975.”
‘Pay Your Way In Pain’ definitely fits that description – sleazy, funk filled, almost spoken word: you can check to out below.
Produced by Annie Clark herself, alongside pop genius Jack Antonoff, the tracklisting for ‘Daddy’s Home’ reads:
- Pay Your Way In Pain
- Down And Out Downtown
- Daddy’s Home
- Live In the Dream
- The Melting Of The Sun
- The Laughing Man
- Down
- Somebody Like Me
- My Baby Wants A Baby
- …At The Holiday Party
- Candy Darling
