Sufjan Stevens has released the new single ‘Ekstasis’ from his upcoming album ‘Reflections’.

The piece was originally commissioned by the Houston Ballet to accompany choreography by Justin Peck, and is the latest in a series of collaborations between the two.

‘Ekstasis’ marks the first single from ‘Reflections’, and was performed by pianists Timo Andres and Conor Hanick. A live version of the song was filmed and directed by Brian Paccione, and is being released alongside the single.

The studio recording of ‘Reflections’ was engineered, mixed and mastered by Ryan Streber at Oktaven Studios. This marks Stevens’ second recorded release of his compositions for piano, following ‘The Decalogue’ in 2019, and his first written for two pianos.

‘Reflections’ is set for release on 19th May.
