SuperM are teasing their return in 2023

  • Lucy Phillips
  • January 3, 2023

SuperM are set to make a highly anticipated comeback this year.

On January 1, the group released a mysterious video to their official YouTube channel, teasing fans with a cryptic message: “SuperM will be coming in 2023”. The clip featured a swirling sphere of energy growing larger, with seven beams of light shooting into the sky and converging to form the SuperM logo.

This will mark SuperM’s first official comeback since their 2020 studio record ‘Super One’, and their first release since their 2021 collaboration with Prudential titled ‘We DO’. However, the exact date of the comeback is yet to be determined, as two of the members, Baekhyun and Taemin (also of EXO and SHINee), are still serving their mandatory military service terms.

The inclusion of seven beams of light in the new teaser has led to speculation that Lucas (also of NCT and Chinese subunit WayV) may also be returning with the rest of the group. Lucas has not been active in any promotional activities since his personal life became subject to controversy in August 2021.

SuperM first arrived in 2019 with a self-titled mini-album and lead single ‘Jopping’. The supergroup comprises members of the SM Entertainment’s existing boybands, including SHINee’s Taemin, Baekhyun and Kai from EXO and NCT’s Ten, Taeyong, Lucas and Mark. They later released their debut studio album ‘Super One’ in 2020, including the singles ‘100’, ‘Tiger Inside’ and ‘One (Monster & Infinity)’.
