Suzi Wu has teamed up with FIDLAR’s Zac Carper for new single ‘LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE’

  • Henry O'Donnell
  • September 9, 2021

Suzi Wu has shared her new single, ‘LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE’.

A co-write with FIDLAR’s Zac Carper, it’s a commentary on mid-00s misogyny.

The London-based artist explains: “I turned myself into one of my childhood fears – a woman thought to be publicly mad. While Britney [Spears] was shaving her head and Lindsay [Lohan] was hiding under club tables. The world was laughing.

“I was like 6 and watching it all on E! If I flicked the channel to Parent Trap or turned the radio on I could hear the very same women telling me to “be myself.” That was the message of the 2000s but it seems as if nobody could be themselves. So that scared me. It made the very idea of being a grown-up woman scary. It still does.”

Check it out below.
