New Mute signing Sylph has revealed the first track from debut EP ‘Silver As It Was Before’, which is set for release on 21st May.

Titled ‘Braid’, it’s the first taster from the new solo project of former S.C.U.M vocalist Thomas Cohen, who has been working on the project for quite some time.

Speaking about ‘Braid’ – a collaborating with French techno producer and artist, Terence Fixmer – he explains: “That track was actually written about meeting Terence for the first time, although I haven’t told him that. I think I’m always looking for that in between space, and that is what I’m trying to bring with the vocal on that track.”

It’s a return to Mute for Cohen, after the label released S.C.U.M’s debut album back in 2021. “On this new project I wanted to fuse the singer-songwriter format of having a verse or a chorus, with a harder electronic repetition,” he explains.
