T Truman – the alter ego solo project of The Vaccines’ keyboard player Timothy Lanham – has dropped a brand new single, ‘Vanity Jones’.
Speaking about the track, he explains: “Vanity Jones is basically about the inner cynic who comes out uninvited and spoils a good time.”
Co-produced and written with frequent collaborator Geoff Roberts, it’s the first taster of new music following last year’s debut EP ‘Born To Be Right’, and coincides with a new support run with Walt Disco which kicks off later this month.
‘Vanity Jones’ is lifted from T Truman’s as-yet-unannounced second EP, due for release Spring 2022. “Retrospectively I think a lot of this new EP’s underlying lyrical meaning is about a search for creative purpose,” he reveals, “and perhaps the fear of what it means if you can’t find it… also a lot about the constant obsession with keeping in vogue, though I couldn’t help but layer all this with silly made up characters who I’d probably never want to meet.”
