The American Music Awards (AMAs) were held at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre on November 20th, with Taylor Swift leading the winner’s list after claiming all six awards she was nominated for.
Swift won all six categories she was nominated for: the highly-coveted Artist of the Year, plus both Favourite Female Pop and Favourite Female Country Artist; Favourite Music Video for her ten-minute version of ‘All Too Well’, and Favourite Pop Album AND Favourite Country Album for her rerecording of‘Red’, from which that track is cut. The astounding sweep follows four recent wins at the MTV EMAs and the recent 2023 Grammy Nominations announcement, where she received nods in four categories.
Elsewhere, Harry Styles walked away with Favourite Male Pop Artist and Favourite Pop Song for the chart-topping single, ‘As It Was’, winning two of five categories he was up for. Beyoncé was nominated for six categories, taking away the awards for Favourite Female R&B Artist and Favourite R&B Album for her 2022 comeback record, ‘Renaissance’.
Dove Cameron was named New Artist of the Year ahead of Måneskin and GAYLE, Coldplay took home the trophy for Favourite Touring Artist, and BTS reestablished their dominance with a fourth consecutive win for Favorite Pop Duo or Group.
