With the release of her new album, ‘Midnights’, Taylor Swift has also revealed the “special very chaotic surprise” she promised previously – a ‘3am Edition’, including seven surprise tracks.
Swift previously announced the full 13 track titles on ‘Midnights’ via a TikTok featurette titled ‘Midnights Mayhem With Me’, but made no mention of additional material.
“Surprise!”, she declared via social media this morning at 3am ET / 8am BST. “I think of ‘Midnights’ as a complete concept album, with those 13 songs forming a full picture of the intensities of that mystifying, mad hour. However! There were other songs we wrote on our journey to find that magic 13.”
“I’m calling them 3am tracks,” Swift continues. “Lately I’ve been loving the feeling of sharing more of our creative process with you, like we do with From The Vault tracks. So it’s 3am and I’m giving them to you now.”
Three of the seven tracks credit Aaron Dessner as a co-writer and co-producer – The National guitarist also co-wrote and co-produced Taylor’s two lockdown releases, ‘folklore’ and ‘evermore’, but did not appear on the original ‘Midnights’ tracklist. The remaining four songs were further collaborations with Jack Antonoff.
