Taylor Swift has been awarded an honorary doctorate in Fine Arts by New York University (NYU).
When NYU announced back in March that they would be awarding the doctorate to Taylor, they referred to her as “one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation”.
She also delivered the commencement address to her fellow NYU graduates, speaking of her cat breed naming skills and how she probably only got an invite due her song “22”. But she also had some words of wisdom for the class of 2022, saying: “I know it can be really overwhelming figuring out who to be, and when. Who you are now and how to act in order to get where you want to go. I have some good news: it’s totally up to you. I also have some terrifying news: it’s totally up to you.”
“I’m trying to tell you that losing things doesn’t just mean losing. A lot of the time, when we lose things, we gain things too.” – our Honorary Doctorate 🥺💜
