Who is niceboy ed, and the other theories coming from Taylor Swift’s making of ‘Midnights’ TikTok

Taylor is set to release her tenth studio album on 21st October.

Taylor Swift has posted a new TikTok that shares clips of the process of making her upcoming album, ‘Midnights’. Here’s a round-up of what we’ve learned ‘slash’ what we are guessing might happen.

Taylor’s TikTok is soundtracked to a song called ‘life you lead’ by ‘niceboy ed’.

The track is the only one currently on the artist’s Spotify profile and was uploaded a matter of days before Taylor’s TikTok was posted. It had very few streams, and socials only show one singular post from the artist. THIS IS FISHY, NO?

So who are they? One theory is that it is Swift herself, who has a history of using pseudonyms, and is a cover of one of her own tracks from ‘Midnights’. Another is that it is Joe Alwyn, who received his own pseudonym William Bowery for his contributions to ‘folklore’ and ‘evermore’.

As reported here, Swift’s TikTok confirms the duo will have continued to work together in some capacity on ‘Midnights’.

Swift and Antonoff have known each other and worked together for a Very Long Time now. He first took on the role of producer on ‘1989’, and has continued to work with Taylor on subsequent albums, including her ‘Taylor’s version’ re-recordings.

So whilst it will come as no surprise, Swift’s TikTok confirms the duo will have continued to work together in some capacity on ‘Midnights’

Eagle-eyed fans have spotted that one of the clips shared by Swift shows her wearing the same jumper (that’s a sweater to those of you across the Atlantic) as she wore in a photo taken with Lana and Jack Antonoff back in April. In the clip, they look to be doing music-making ‘stuff’, rather than just hanging out.

With confirmation that Jack is onboard for ‘Midnights’, it raises the question of a Lana feature on the upcoming record.

As always with Taylor, Dear Reader, there are countless other theories put forward by her ever-curious fanbase, but we’d be here all day and have some other bands to write about. Do your own digging. Don’t be lazy.

Taylor will release ‘Midnights’ on 21st October.
