The 1975’s ‘By Your Side’ cover is a little bit special, for a very special cause

  • Dork News Desk
  • February 21, 2017
The 1975 have debuted their cover of Sade’s 2000 cut ‘By Your Side’.

The band are releasing their take as a charity single for War Child, for whom they’re also playing a special low-key show literally-right-now (Tuesday 21st February).

Premiered on MistaJam’s BBC Radio 1 show, it’s a Bon Iver-esque take on the track, drenched in autotune and synthesisers.

“When I was listening to it,” Matty told MistaJam, “I was listening to it with a real sense of modernity and thinking, ‘Wow this is still really, really forward thinking.’ So me and George [Daniel] couldn’t help ourselves … It’s such a beautiful song.”
