The Academic have shared ‘My Very Best’, the final single from their new album, ‘Sitting Pretty’.
The Irish four-piece are set to drop ‘Sitting Pretty’ on 10th February, and ‘My Very Best’ will be the final teaser, following ‘Don’t Take It Personally’, ‘Homesick’ and ‘Pushing Up Daisies’. The Mullingar natives dropped their debut album, ‘Tales From The Backseat’, back in 2018, so the follow-up has been long-awaited.
Produced at Snap Studios in London by Nick Hodgson, ‘Sitting Pretty’’s release arrives alongside news that The Academic will head out on a whirlwind UK tour in February. Tickets are available here.
The Academic have also shared a video for the track. Check it out below.
On ‘My Very Best’, the band explain: “‘My Very Best’ is a song about coming up short. We wanted to write something that could encapsulate the heavy heartedness and cruelty of feeling like you can’t emotionally provide a relationship with what it needs to survive. The song explores the inner turmoil and feelings of inadequacy this realisation can bring.”
