The Great Escape has announced its First Fifty acts for 2022 – and we’re throwing a showcase to celebrate

  • September 15, 2021

The Great Escape – Brighton’s annual festival of new music – have announced details of this year’s First Fifty shows.

The kick-off for 2022’s event starts on 17th November, when the first fifty acts to play next May’s The Great Escape will play across a series of showcases in East London. For the first time, there’ll also be a show in Brighton on 19th November, plus an online First Fifty event on 18th November.

Loads, basically.

Dork (that’s us, hi – Ed) are delighted to be hosting one of the aforementioned showcases, taking over Oslo on 17th November to bring you a line-up including Ivor Novello winning, 2020 Hype List… featuring(?!) future megastar Mysie (pictured), soulful popster Delilah Montagu, Danish electronic pop producer-slash-singer JADA and gospel jazz talent Kwaku Asante. That’s good, isn’t it? Absolutely it is.

Elsewhere, you’ll find some similarly impressive talents, including-but-not-limited-to ENNY, Hussy, KEG, Lime Garden, Malady, Priya Ragu, Sipho, Daisy Brain, Dreya Mac, Wu-Lu and ‘more’. Tickets for First Fifty are on sale now.

After the huge success of TGE’s 2021 online edition – thanks, Covid – on Thursday 18th November there’ll be a digital ‘event’ featuring performances from some of the most exciting talents from around the world – including Wallice, Maple Glider, Gustaf, Charmaine, CV Vision, Sycco, Lunar Vacation, TEKE::TEKE, Kills Birds, DORA, Gabriels, Adam Melchor, Enumclaw, EFÉ, Ur Monarch, Someone, Alice Pisano, Johanna Warren, and Conchúr White.

That Brighton showcase, as previously mentioned, will take over Chalk on 19th November, featuring TikTok superstar and powerful vocalist Sam Ryder, rising teenage R&B soul talent Isabelle Brown and Brighton based singer-slash-songwriter HEIGHTS.

The Great Escape 2022 will take place between 12th-14th May alongside the TGE conference in Brighton, featuring 35+ walkable venues and more than 450 up-and-coming artists. Tickets start from £70 and are on sale now.
