The National have taken to social media to announce what they describe as a “special” show in Manchester. The event will take place at Depot Mayfield on 27 August 2022.
They have also confirmed that their label mates, Dry Cleaning, will be performing at the event.
Tickets for the Manchester show go on sale at 10am on Friday (8th April) at 10am and can be purchased here. There will be a pre-sale from 10am on Wednesday for fans who are signed up to the band’s Cherry Tree community.
The National have not toured the UK since 2019, then on the back of the release of their 8th studio album ‘I Am Easy to Find’.
The release of new tour dates brings with it the expectation of new music, but nothing has been formally announced just yet. The band have been keeping plenty busy since 2019, with band member Aaron Dessner gaining a reputation of producer extraordinaire, working with Taylor Swift on both ‘Folklore’, and ‘Evermore’ on which Matt Berninger provided guest vocals. Aaron and Bryce Dessner also composed the score for the movie ‘Cyrano’ release this year, with The National writing and performing a new track ‘Somebody Desperate’ for the movie’s end credits.
The National have also announced other UK shows coming up this year, playing Belfast and Edinburgh, as well as a headline set at All Points East festival in London in August.
