The National tease arrival of new song ‘Tropic Morning News’, coming this week

It is expected to arrive on Wednesday, January 18th.

The National have been teasing the release of new music this week, announcing the arrival of their new song ‘Tropic Morning News’ via their socials.

The song, which has appeared in their live sets throughout the summer, is due to arrive tomorrow (January 18th) at 17:15 GMT on BBC 6Music.

The news of the new track follows the band’s teaser of two other songs from their upcoming, as yet untitled, album. The teaser featured 25 seconds of music and frontman Matt Berninger facing a piano, with a book of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein in hand at the end of the clip. The band also shared a link to their website with the letters “lp9”, which led fans to a passage from the book with a letter addressed to Mrs. Bridgers, mentioning both Taylor Swift and Sufjan Stevens.

Last year saw the release of ‘Weird Goodbyes’, a collaboration with Bon Iver. The band’s most recent studio album, ‘I Am Easy To Find’, was released in 2019.
