The new issue of Dork, featuring The 1975, is out now

They're our band of the year, and we're willing to fight you over it. Put 'em up!
It’s here. Our extra special Best of 2016 / look at all these amazing new bands for the year ahead edition is ‘out’ from today. A packed December 2016 / January 2017 issue, it features both the best of the last twelve months and some of what we expect to dominate the next.

On the cover is our band of the year, The 1975. Dropping an album that resonated way beyond that of any other band, Matty and co. have set themselves out as true icons. With instant snaps taken by the band from the road, we get deep down and in-depth with their frontman to find out what’s coming next. It’s one not to miss.

They’re not the only band to have a brilliant 2016, though. We also catch up with Blossoms, Spring King, Glass Animals, Mystery Jets and Let’s Eat Grandma. Oscar reviews some of the year’s standout bangers, we run you through our Albums of the Year, and deliver the results of the Dork 2016 Readers’ Poll.

We’re also introducing you to the New Wave of 2017 – a gang of new bands and artists who we think you’ll be hearing a lot more from in the next year. Featuring some already familiar names, INHEAVEN, Declan McKenna, Mura Masa, Get Inuit and Estrons are joined by The Big Moon, VANT, Black Honey, Dream Wife, The Japanese House, Pumarosa, Sundara Karma, Girli and loads more as we charge headlong into a brave new world.

In Hype, we’re all about the band on everyone’s lips right now, Cabbage, and nailed on future banger-merchants King Nun. Circa Waves talk all about their new album, Metronomy delve into next year’s live plans, and Dutch Uncles look to a busy 2017. Add to that Menace Beach‘s guide to all things Leeds, Marika Hackman‘s Xmas playlist, a day in the life of Lucy Rose, Frank Carter telling us that punk is more than a number in 20 Questions and some of the worst pop star jokes you’ve ever read (sorry guys – Ed), and you’ve got a magazine to tide you over until mid-January.

Order the December 2016 / January 2017 issue of Dork now and make sure you get a copy direct to your door, anywhere in the world. You can also subscribe, and make sure you never miss an issue here. You can pick one up in person at record stores and venues around the UK (though, although we’ve posted them out to stockists, be aware that the Xmas delivery service means it may take a few days to arrive everywhere – Ed), or read the whole thing online in full here.
