The War On Drugs had a very special guest at their Drugcember To Remember show in Philadelphia earlier this week (20th December). The band invited Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn to join them for a series of covers, as well as a performance of a Finn original.
The show kicked off with Finn’s ‘Blankets’ from his 2019 solo album ‘I Need A New War’, followed by a cover of Warren Zevon’s ‘Play It All Night Long’. The setlist continued with a rendition of John Hiatt’s ‘Walk On’, and the group was joined by fellow guest Matt Lowell, lead vocalist for LA band Lo Moon, for a cover of Bob Seger’s ‘Against The Wind’.
The rest of The War On Drugs’ setlist for the evening was largely made up of cuts from their 2014 album ‘Lost In The Dream’ and last year’s ‘I Don’t Live Here Anymore’. The band had previously performed songs from the former on a handful of occasions, including on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and as part of a Tiny Desk Concert back in 2021.
