Oliver Sim of The xx is set to drop a first solo track tomorrow (10th March).
Titled ‘Romance With A Memory’, the new song will drop at 3pm GMT – the same day he hosts the inaugural edition of The xx’s new Apple Radio 1 show Interludes Radio.
Writing on Instagram, Oliver explains: “I cannot tell you how much joy it brings me to watch a ghoul having a good time. I’ve made a compilation of some of my favourite monsters, killers and queers getting down to Romance With a Memory. I hope both the music & monsters make you feel as happy as they make me”
Interludes Radio kicks off at 2pm GMT tomorrow.
A press release explains that “Interludes Radio will feature an eclectic mix of music, special messages from notable friends in music and culture, fan interactions, exclusive new music, and insights into the group’s creative process.”
Each episode of Interludes Radio will be hosted by a different member of the group, with Oliver’s edition set to be horror film-themed.
“We’ll be taking turns to host each episode and get into the things that inspire us individually,” the band explain. “An hour of music, guests and sneak peeks of what we’re all up to on our own and together.”
For the first episode, Sim is joined by friends and collaborators including Florence Welch, Elton John, Sampha, Jimmy Somerville, Romy, Jamie xx, and director Yann Gonzalez, who call in to share their favourite horror movies alongside musical selections from Thom Yorke, Perfume Genius, Yves Tumor, Hercules and Love Affair, and more.
You can listen to Interludes Radio live for free at apple.co/_InterludesRadio or anytime on-demand with an Apple Music subscription.
