QTY kicked in the Dork HQ front door with debut track ‘Rodeo’, and now they’re making themselves well and truly at home with the flip-side to their debut 7’ – ‘World Breaker’.
A more sombre and melancholic flavour than their initial serving, ‘World Breaker’ is the sort of late-night/early-morning bar croon that’s looking to pierce through the cigarette smoke and ever-increasing hangovers for that distinct moment of clarity. It’s life in a city, when the lights are beginning to dim inside, but rising up outside – and it’s a feeling we all know too well.
The New York duo (made up of Dan Lardner and Alex Niemetz), describe the track as “the more desperate side of my particular city life, drawn from mine and our experiences”. The split 7” – released on December 16th through acclaimed label Dirty Hit – is “two coins of equal value, one’s just slightly more corroded than the other. Being the amateur coin collector I am, I still find them pretty”
