Trunky Juno has shared ‘Boys Like Me’, the second single from his newly-announced EP, ‘Death Metal Music’.
It is his third single of the year, following June’s standalone ‘Oxford English Dictionary’ and October’s EP title track, ‘Death Metal Music’. The upcoming project is set to arrive in full on March 3rd via Silent Kid Records and is his third EP release, following 2020’s ‘Too Many Teeth’ and 2021’s ‘Good Dog’, which Dork’s 3-star review described as, “eclectic and all-embracing indie-pop”.
‘Boys Like Me’ serves as the EP opener, and was co-produced by Eduardo De La Paz (The Big Moon, Walt Disco, Drug Store Romeos). “This is the fastest and most energetic song I’ve ever written, and one day I will inevitably pass out playing it live,” Trunky Juno offers.
“I was taking influence from a lot of my favourite artists on this EP such as Neutral Milk Hotel, The Flaming Lips and Weezer – which I think comes through specifically on this track,” he adds.. “’If a million me’s were typing love letter spiel / not even one of them could change how you feel’ subtly draws a parallel between myself and a chimp. Make of that what you will.”
