Stockholm’s Viagra Boys are back with news of a second album, and a brand new lead single lifted from it.
Titled ‘Welfare Jazz’, the full-length follows up on 2018’s debut ‘Street Worms’ and March’s ‘Common Sense EP’. It features production from Matt Sweeney (Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Run the Jewels), Justin and Jeremiah Raisen (Yves Tumor, Kim Gordon, Sky Ferreira), Pelle Gunnerfeldt and Daniel Fagerström (The Hives, The Knife).
It’s accompanied by a first offering from the record, ‘Ain’t Nice’, which arrives alongside a SNASK-directed video. You can check that out below.
Frontman Sebastian Murphy explains: “I’m not good at talking about politics, but everything is political when it comes down to it. I’d rather write a song about being defeated, which usually comes from a real place and says a lot. We wrote these songs at a time when I had been in a long-term relationship, taking drugs every day, and being an asshole. I didn’t really realise what an asshole I was until it was too late, and a lot of the record has to do with coming to terms with the fact that I’d set the wrong goals for myself.”
‘Welfare Jazz’ will be released on 8th January 2021 via YEAR0001. The tracklisting reads:
‘Ain’t Nice’
‘Cold Play’
‘Toad’
‘The Old Dog’
‘Into The Sun’
‘Creatures’

‘Best In Show II’
