Watch Animal Collective head to the rainforest

A new Viceland show features the recording of their recent ‘Meeting of the Waters’ EP in the Brazilian rainforest.
Last year, Animal Collective recorded their recent ‘Meeting of the Waters’ EP in the Brazilian rainforest. Now, you can watch them do it.

A new Viceland documentary series Earthworks’ captures Geologist, Avey Tare, and sound engineer Sonny Diperri in the process of creating the project.

In it, Geologist explains the choice of location was informed by the group’s affinity for sampling. “Both [Avey Tare] and I, we’ve used field recordings in our music maybe even before we were called Animal Collective,” he reveals. “And so I kind of wanted to come down to a place where the idea of recording natural sounds would be something I could highlight.”
