Weezer have dropped a surprise covers album, because Weezer

  • Dork News Desk
  • January 24, 2019

Everyone loves a good covers band, right? That’s what Weezer are hoping for.

In the run up to the release of their self-titled Black album this March, the band have shock dropped a new full-length, ‘Weezer (The Teal Album)’. Made up of ten cover versions, including their previously released version of Toto’s ‘Africa’, it might just make them the world’s biggest wedding band.

After working a number of covers into their live set, they’ve recorded a bunch and put them together for the new collection, including takes on Tears for Fears, a-ha, Black Sabbath, ELO, TLC and Michael Jackson.

It’s quite something.

You can check out the full-thing below, while you wait for the release of ‘Weezer (The Black Album)’ on 1st March.

Weezer (The Teal Album) track listing:

1. Africa (Toto)
2. Everybody Wants to Rule the World (Tears for Fears)
3. Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) (The Eurythmics)
4. Take On Me (a-ha)
5. Happy Together (The Turtles)
6. Paranoid (Black Sabbath)
7. Mr. Blue Sky (Electric Light Orchestra)
8. No Scrubs (TLC)
9. Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)
10. Stand By Me (Ben E. King)
