Wolf Alice have debuted their brand new single, the gargantuan ‘Smile’.
The second track to arrive from the current Dork cover stars’ forthcoming third album ‘Blue Weekend’, it comes alongside an accompanying clip filmed by director Jordan Hemmingway, which debuts at 7pm BST today (Tuesday 20th April).
‘Smile’ is described as being inspired by lead singer Ellie Rowsell‘s desire to “fight back against those who try to define her”.
“This is one of the songs we wrote thinking that we would play it live,” Ellie explains. “I miss that feeling of singing on stage. It’s like screaming into a pillow or something — you can get away with being more nasty. There’s a whole other part of me missing.”
It comes after the reveal of first track ‘The Last Man On Earth’ earlier this year. New album ‘Blue Weekend’ is set to arrive on 11th June, before the band hit the road for a UK & Irish tour next January.
Wolf Alice are currently on the cover of the new – already sold-out of print editions – issue of Dork. If you missed out on a copy, you can sign up as a Dork supporter here, and then read the full thing online here.
