You can grab some previously unreleased Sigur Rós music this Record Store Day

  • Dork News Desk
  • April 21, 2018
Last year, Sigur Rós released special limited edition vinyl, featuring new or unreleased music, arround their inaugral Norður og Niður Festival in Iceland.

Until now, only those attending the event could get hold of copies, but now, for Record Store Day (21st April), the band are opening them up for a wider release.

They include ‘Route One’, which features musical highlights from the band’s 24 hour ‘slow TV’ event back in 2016; ‘Liminal Remixes’, featuring “extraordinary never-before-heard ambient versions of some Sigur Rós classics” put together by Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi, collaborator Alex Somers, and composer Paul Corley; a first ever vinyl pressing of Jónsi and Somers’ All Animals EP and a new, untitled full-length from Somers.

Each of the releases comes in a custom handmade sleeve, designed by Icelandic artist Sigga Bjorg.

Limited editions are available in record stores across UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, with a number then made available to US and Canadian fans via XL Recordings’ online store starting from 23rd April at 10am EST.
